How excited I was to begin my teaching career with Pilates & Yoga for Life in June, 2009! If anyone has grown on this journey, its most certainly been me. The beautiful opportunity to share life with you every Tuesday and Thursday (and formerly Saturday) has brought joy, depth, challenge and deep, personal fulfillment. I thank you.
In 2010, I initiated a Yoga ministry at my church, Morning Star, of which my husband, Mike, is founding pastor. Morning Star began in September of 1999. The vision was one of wholeness with a campus. I was excited and very clear on a personal calling to bring Yoga, but for all persons of any background and belief system. Since then, there has been an ongoing request for additional classes, of which I chose not to add because the timing wasn’t right and of maintaining personal life balance.
Since early spring, I have felt a stirring in my soul that my path was beginning to shift. Through weeks of prayer and meditation and consulting two trusted friends, I realized that the timing to expand Yoga at Morning Star is now. I’m grateful to have two gifted teachers joining me in co-creating a much broader vision of health and wellness, of which Yoga is one leg. Our vision also includes a focused intention on nutrition, essential oils, and retreats. Together, we expand from (me) offering Yoga classes only on Wednesdays to the three of us offering a class schedule Monday thru Friday.
Stepping into a broader vision means that I must step away from something, as a way to honor both my personal and family balance. This means the decision to relinquish my Tuesday morning classes, 6:30 & 9 am. I can’t tell you with enough emphasis what a difficult decision this has been. My anxiety has been so high, as a result of emotionally (and selfishly) not wanting to let go. With respect and humility, I acknowledge the journey many of us have shared together……some of you two, four, even five years. This has been one of trust, commitment and, in many cases, the “right fit”…..student and teacher.
Rest assured, I’ve been the student every week. The real of life…….laughs, struggle, pain, loss, change……..we’ve shared these, sometimes with very few words exchanged.
Life is constantly in flux. To use a yoga term, “flexibility” is not only healthy and beneficial on the mat, but in other areas of life, too. I invite and ask you to open your heart to someone new. Stasia is passionate, intelligent, knowledgeable, highly trained and caring. She brings to you a deeper level of acquired Yoga training, solid experience and a sincere enthusiasm for the chance to embrace a dedicated tribe of practitioners. The most significant investment you make is in your health. In YOUR practice. Stay on your path of keeping united your body, mind, soul and heart.
My plan is to:
· Enjoy one last teaching day this coming Tuesday, September 15 for the 9 am class.
· Continue to teach the Tuesday 6:30 am class thru September 29. By October, we’re hopeful to have a new teacher.
· Permanently continue to teach the Thursday 6:30 am Hot Flow class.
· I also trust to be called upon to sub every now and then and avail myself with openness.
The purpose of this is mainly to express my GRATITUDE to each of you. My deepest gratitude for the ways you’ve inspired, enlarged and shared your love and light with me. Truly, if only every teacher had the blessing of such lovely students! I’m grateful to Jen for the courageous way she has stepped into leadership and ownership, brining fresh and needed changes to our studio. Jen has been nothing but gracious and respectful toward me during this transition. I am grateful to Stasia for subbing for me this summer with zeal and for her “ready heart” to say yes. In truth, Stasia personally wishes she could also embrace the Tuesday 6:30 am class as well, but early morning family commitments do not allow.
I bow to you.
Loving, loving Namaste.
