What is Pilates?
Pilates uses over 500 different exercises executed with a minimum number of repetitions and a high degree of precision in order to achieve a balance of strength, stretch and control. Pilates and Yoga for Life implements the “Art of Contrology”, as named by Joseph H. Pilates, which works several muscle groups concurrently resulting in a method where the mind and body work in tandem to produce total body fitness.
Pilates and Yoga for Life is distinctive in its dedication to the authentic teachings of Joseph H. Pilates. This method has stood the test of time and produces long lasting and life-changing results. By focusing in on the “Powerhouse”, (abdominal muscles, lower back and buttocks), individuals stabilize the core muscle groups of the torso, create good posture, better balance and a stronger more flexible spine.
Everyone benefits from the study of Pilates…men, women, young, sedentary and athletes. At Pilates and Yoga for Life individuals work at their own level and progress in a manner based on fitness goals, prior injuries and age while using specialized apparatus and mats in 50-55 minute sessions. Each instructor is trained to develop an appropriate session for each individual with safety as a focus at all times. The staff at Pilates and Yoga for Life is dedicated to the teaching of Joseph H. Pilates and have all completed a 700 hour training and extensive testing program under Romana Kryzanowska, master instructor and protégé of Joseph Pilates.
Pilates directly affects all aspects of your life resulting in a method of control that facilitates and supports work, play and other forms of exercise. The quality of an instructor is very important in choosing a Pilates studio. At Pilates and Yoga for Life you can expect quality, dedication and a commitment to experience the best.
I have been taking Pilates and Yoga for a while. I hurt my back and after resting it, I attended my Pilates class. My back was back to normal after class. If I do my Pilates and Yoga, it does not have a problem.
Pilates Private Sessions
Pilates Mat Class
Learn how to perform exercises with proper form and alignment, along with any modifications that are appropriate to clients needs. Through hands-on teaching individuals learn the order of the exercises, the principles of Pilates and the system of exercises that is right for their body and their personal fitness goals.
Notes: socks must be worn during Pilates sessions.

Sessions are 50 min. giving instructors time to clean apparatus, schedule appointments, collect payments and use restroom.
Please be considerate of other clients by speaking quietly before and after a session.
Private sessions include both matwork and apparatus to build a customized system of exercises addressing the needs, goals and previous injuries of the individual client. Sessions are 50-55 minutes and made by appointment.
In a semi-private session two clients at the same level work together resulting in a fun and energetic session. Many clients take a combination of semi-private, private and mat classes. Sessions are 50-55 minutes and made by appointment.
If 1 of the participants in the semi-private cancels with more than 24 hrs. notice, the other participants may take a private 30 min. session, cancel or pay added charges for a 50 min private session. If one cancels with less than 24 hrs. notice the other participant may take a private at no additional cost and the canceled participants is charge the normal fee.
A 30-minute private is designed for clients wishing to work on a specific issue or whose fitness level limits them to 30 minutes of exercise. All sessions are made by appointment.
Focuses on mat work that can develop into a beneficial home-practice routine. Sessions are 50-55 minutes.
